Checking in with Air New Zealand at Christchurch Airport

What a mess!

Very unpleasant check in with Air New Zealand. First of all, Air New Zealand does not offer free meal. You have to pay for your own meal. If you decide to buy one, you only can buy snacks and drinks menu. No main course. It gets worst when you only can pay for the snacks only with credit cards, no cash, no NZ notes.

Among the huge crowd, we manage to learn that we must DIY check in at the computers booths to:
– scan our booking reference bar code which DOESN’T WORK. But luckily i managed with manually entering the booking reference number
– read all the terms and conditions on the screen and then click ok to move to the next screen
– scan your own passport
– print luggage tags and stick it yourself
– print boarding passes
And Air New Zealand expect you to know that your luggage isn’t over the weight limit. Where the %&?! is a weighing scale?

After that, you got the queue at the bag drop counter which we luckily picked the right queue out of luck because one queue is for international flights and another is for domestic flights. When it is our turn, the crew asked us, “Is your bag less than 23kgs? I looked at Phoebe and then turn back and say, Yes, of course”. The crew didn’t even check. Hope that my luggage won’t go missing.

I wonder if all NZ seniors owns an iPad who knows how to use a touch screen and operate a computer and overseas visitors knows how to use their system.
